Short answer: stock live cage traps as your main line. They are legal to sell and use in more places, safe around pets and children, reusable for years, and they suit customers who want an animal moved rather than killed. Lethal traps fill a narrower, more regulated niche.
How the two compare
| Live cage trap | Lethal trap | |
|---|---|---|
| Result | Animal held unharmed, then released or relocated | Animal killed |
| Non-target catches | Pets and protected species can be let go | Risk of killing pets or protected animals |
| Rules | Generally allowed, with local rules on relocation | Often restricted by species, season or licence |
| Reuse | Years of use; folds flat for storage | Varies by type |
| Who buys | Homeowners, TNR groups, pest-control firms, animal control | Licensed trappers, farms |
Rules on trapping and relocating wildlife differ by country, state and species. Ask your customers to check local regulations; as a supplier we make the trap, not the rules.
Why live traps sell well
- Wider buyer base. Rescue groups, cat colonies and many city customers will only use a humane trap.
- Fewer complaints. A caught pet can simply be released, so a mistake does not become a dispute.
- One product, many animals. Seven sizes cover rats to large dogs. See our size guide.
- Easy to ship. Our traps fold flat and pack 10 per carton at 61 cm, 5 per carton from 66 to 94 cm, and 1 per carton from 108 cm.

What makes a good live trap
Buyers return live traps for three reasons: the animal escaped, the frame bent, or the wire rusted. On our traps the doors lock once they close, so the animal cannot push them open from inside; wire gauge rises with trap size; and the finish is electro-galvanized silver or black powder or plastic coating. Standard wire is galvanized steel, and stainless steel can be made on request.
